Altagas ltd. - reef project

Prince Rupert, BC

Timber Baron Contracting (2013) Ltd. successfully completed the clearing of more than 35 hectares of soft soil terrain, delivering a fully integrated scope of full-phase forestry and access services in challenging ground conditions. The project required careful planning and execution to maintain productivity while protecting sensitive soils and surrounding environments.

Scope of work included falling, forwarding, processing, loading, and hauling of timber, as well as the development of trail access and drill pad preparation to support downstream construction activities. To ensure safe access and minimize ground disturbance, Timber Baron installed access mats and implemented low-ground-pressure operations, allowing work to proceed efficiently without compromising soil integrity.

Additional services included air curtain burning and comprehensive wood waste management, ensuring efficient disposal of clearing debris while maintaining air quality compliance. Timber Baron also provided surface and subsurface water management, including the installation of finger drains, to control runoff, maintain site stability, and protect adjacent watercourses.

Throughout the project, Timber Baron delivered full site support, coordinating equipment, crews, logistics, and safety oversight to ensure the work was completed safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements. This integrated approach allowed Timber Baron to mitigate risk, reduce downtime, and deliver reliable results in sensitive and complex terrain.
